Box Office: Super 30 gets slow opening

Super 30 starts slow, but picks up on the weekend.

The Hrithik Roshan starrer will need to sustain through the week to emerge on the positive side.

Super 30

Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Mrunal Thakur, Virendra Saxena, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Shrivastava, Nandish Singh, Amit Sadh, Johnny Lever, Ali Haji.
Director: Vikas Bahl.
What works: The students are the best part of the film, and the camera work is good.
What doesn't: Hrithik is a miscast.
Number of weeks: New.
Box Office verdict: Slow opening.

 

Malaal

Cast: Meezaan Jaffery, Sharmin Segal.
Director: Mangesh Hadawale.
What works: Good performances.
What doesn't: Same old boring story.

What works: Well-researched, clear-headed movie. Very good performances.
What doesn't: Seems consciously made to flatter the educated, urban audiences and their polished sensibility.

What works: Sunil Grover scores a few laughs.
What doesn't: Dull. Overlong. Manipulative. Poor characterisations. Ends up mocking its own ambitions.

What works: Realistic story.
What doesn't: Staggeringly dull film.
