Bollywood bids farewell to Kundan Shah

Director Kundan Shah, who made cult cinema like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, succumbed to a heart attack on October 7. He would have turned 70 this month.

His funeral was held the same evening at the Shivaji Park Crematorium in Dadar, central Mumbai.

The film fraternity and his friends were in attendance to bid him farewell for the last time.

 

Naseeruddin Shah played a pivotal role in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, and was a part of Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa as well.

Kundan Shah had been a partner of Iskra productions, which was founded by Aziz and his brother Saeed Mirza to make television shows.

Satish Shah played a dead man in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and credits his success to the late director.

Sudhir Mishra, also seen in the picture, had written the story and screenplay of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro along with Kundan Shah. In fact, Ravi Baswani's character was named after him.

Raveena Tandon had worked with Kundan Shah in the 2004 film, Ek Se Badkar Ek.

Pavan Malhotra gained success with his character Hari in Kundan Shah's TV show, Nukkad.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit was one of the first film personalities to tweet his condolences.
