After leaving the Big Brother House earlier this month, the Indian housemate on the show Sree Dasari was rushed to hospital after he slashed his wrist on Thursday night, according to reports. TV Biz has revealed that paramedics were called to the Indian-born student's digs in the early hours of Friday.
Sree was discharged from hospital after being treated for cuts and lacerations. However, there was no suggestion of a suicide bid.
According to a source, Sree had become upset while watching 'Big Brother', and was later found in his room at the University of Hertfordshire.
Shortly before entering the Big Brother house in May, Sree had boasted how he was voted in as new president of the student union.
He was set to appear on the spin-off show 'Big Brother''s Big Mouth' on July 31.
However, Channel 4 chiefs were quite cautious and arranged for him to be cared for by a show psychologist over the entire weekend.
And now, Sree is back at home and in regular contact with a member of the production team.
Housemates welfare is of paramount importance. There is a well- established and extensive after-care system in place for all housemates," the Sun quoted a Channel 4 spokesman as saying.
The spokesman added: "Sree continues to be given ongoing support by the production team and regular access to the show's psychologist."
A spokesman for his university, based in Hatfield, said: "We are aware of the incident that took place last Thursday evening. We are offering ongoing support to Sree as part of our usual student support procedures."
Sree became the fourth housemate to get kicked from the show when he was evicted earlier this month.
