Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s historical drama Bajirao Mastani, which is about Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao and his love life, will be dubbed into Tamil and Telugu.
Expressing happiness over this development Bhansali says, "It is a welcome move. I think Indian cinema is moving into a unified range of vision for the audience."
"We cannot say Kamal Haasan’s Thoonga Vanam is a Tamil film or Court is a Marathi film, although the spoken language is Tamil and Marathi. Indian cinema has evolved and so has the audience. Though Bajirao is rooted to the Maharashtrian ethos, the theme of love, loyalty, patriotism and nationalism are universal," adds the maverick filmmaker
While SLB is excited about his film’s expansion into multi-lingualism, he hopes the film’s cultural ethos remains unambiguous.
Bhansali says,"I’ve made a film about a warrior whom I admire. The warrior’s life is visualised in my style, and defined by my yardsticks of aesthetics."
