The first time when she was hospitalised was on February 8, when she was admitted for a respiratory problem, aggravated by the heat and dust on the sets of Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
She fell ill on the sets of the film again, this time with more serious infection.
"We were in Rajkot when Sonam started showing symptoms of swine flu," says a co-star. "We were joking about it when she was sniffling and coughing. We were sure it was an ordinary flu. But then the tests proved our worst fears right. But Sonam was in control and not fussy at all. Soorajji was far more worried. Even when an air ambulance flew her back to Mumbai, Sonam was calm."
In Mumbai, Sonam’s parents and sister Rhea have been keeping a constant vigil on her health at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital, where she has been admitted.
When contacted, her father Anil Kapoor said, "She is better now but she will be under observations for a few days."
Sonam is expected to be out of hospital by the end of this week. It will be a subdued Holi for the Kapoors this year.
