Aarya Babbar is the latest contestant to be eliminated from the controversial reality show Bigg Boss.
The actor found himself in a tricky situation when it was revealed that he had tried to get evicted contestant Minissha Lamba to pretend they were romantically linked in order to survive on the show for a longer time.
He got physically pushed around by co-contestant Puneet Issar in the Bigg Boss house, for which the latter was temporarily thrown out of the house.
Aarya tells Rajul Hegde/ Rediff.com why he doesn't watch the reality show any more.
Did the elimination come as a shock to you?
No. I somehow knew I would be out this week because I myself wanted to get out.
I was not so active at all in the house after I was nominated. I could not breathe in the same space as Puneetji (Issar).
When goodness was not valued, I knew I would be the one to come out and I did.
You and Puneet have known each other since before the show started. Were you shocked to see Puneet’s other side?
More than shocking, it was educational to see Puneetji’s true colours.
The individual characteristics of every person were highlighted on the show -- selfish, dumb, positive, quarrelsome, negative, and hypocrite.
But Puneet Issar was obnoxious, cheap and vulgar.
He mocks people and poisons their minds. He would call someone beta and then later talk bad behind their back.
It was obvious that you were not happy after Puneet’s comeback to the house.
I didn’t like this move at all. Puneet was brought back just to boost the TRPs.
I feel cheated by Bigg Boss.
In the contract it is clearly mentioned that we would be expelled from the house if we turned violent on the show.
Initially, Bigg Boss threw him out of the house on the basis of his violent attack on me. Then they brought him back on the show in a day and kept him inside a jail.
If he was going to be brought back on the show, why was he eliminated?
Would you like to be in touch with Puneet after he comes out of the house?
I come from a background where I am taught to respect elders. If I meet him socially, I will definitely touch his feet.
Would I like to be associated with him? No.
Apparently, you asked your co-contestant Minissha Lamba to fake a romantic relationship before you entered the show in order to garner more attention. You also said you were dating each other. Could you clarify?
We were very close friends during the making of a Punjabi film. Like many friendships between co-stars during shooting, it ended after the film was completed.
I did approach her before we went into Bigg Boss house and asked her about any romantic possibility in the house. It is quite normal for co-stars to do it for publicity before the release of a film.
She wasn’t comfortable, so I stepped back and never approached her again.
The few things I said may have been an angry reaction to what Minissha had said behind my back. But I did not lie about anything. I respect the fact that she wants to move ahead.
You were not so friendly with Gautam Gulati...
He is an unpredictable guy but not a bad person.
I was friends with Gautam but when Puneetji entered the house in the second week, Gautam lost the plot. It is sad that Gautam got in touch with him.
So what was your main reason to be in Bigg Boss?
I needed a platform to draw attention to my book. My book releases in January.
Also to connect with people. I guess eight weeks was more than enough for people to know the real me.
What’s the book about?
It’s a work of fiction, called My Fiancé and I: How I F***** it up.
It’s a mad comedy about a character in a rush to get married and how he gets f***** up.
Have you been following the show after your eviction?
No. I am busy with my book and getting used to the phone and socialising.
Do you think Kim Kardashian’s entry will boost the TRPs of the show?
I don’t know whether it will boost the TRPs, but it will definitely boost the guys in the house. The guys in the house will go crazy.
I think they will have to give proper security to her even when she is inside the house (laughs loudly).
Who would you like to see win the show?
I want Upen (Patel) to win. But he is a nice and sober guy and I think he'll get evicted soon.
The other contestant would be Ali (Quli Mirza). Though he has lots of controversies behind him, he is a good guy at heart.
