It is heartening to note that writer-director Suri who made a blockbuster Kannada film like Duniya has moved away from its shadow and made a film like Inthi Ninna Preethiya, which conveys the dangers of drinking.  Yes, Inthi Ninna Preethiya is rather an unexpected fare from Suri.

Suri has crafted the film with brilliant technical support from his cinematographer Sathya Hegde. Sadhu Kokila's melodious song compositions have a soothing effect while Shashidhara Adapa's art work is equally brilliant.

However, the film suffers from a not so tight screenplay and repetitive sequences, particularly the drinking scenes, which affects the impact of the film seriously. That is one reason you see many viewers going out of the theatre and coming back later.

The story revolves around a man called Rajeeva who is in love with Nayana. However, an unfortunate incident makes them go separate ways. After that Rajeeva hits the bottle, which forces his family to get him married off in the hopes of some reformation. Ironically, it is the tragic death of his wife that forces Rajeeva to reform. He promises his family members that he would give up drinking for the sake of his child.

Which brings us to the performances. Krishna is realistic as Rajeeva, a great improvement from his earlier films.

Bhavana is impressive as Krishna's wife and the one song that is shot on her is good.

Newcomer Sonu makes a mark.

Chatterbox Rangayana Raghu is different in this film.  He and Kishor are brilliant in their respective roles.

In the play of words between the hero and the heroine, writer Suri shines but on the whole, there is fewer sparks in the dialogues penned by him.

Inthi Ninna Preethiya would have been a better film if not for the repetitive sequences.
