Madonna has decided to adopt an Indian child. According to The Sun, the 49-year-old pop diva has given up her attempt to adopt a child from Africa, thanks to red tape.

Madonna is said to have fallen in love with India after she visited that country with her 39-year-old British husband Guy Ritchie and kids -- Lourdes, 11, Rocco, seven, and adopted Malawian son David, two -- in January.

During their trip, they met Bollywood choreographer, Sandip Soparrkar, who had also adopted a baby. Apparently, Madonna was very pleased with Sandip, as he told her that there were orphans who would melt her heart.

Madonna's husband, British director Guy Ritchie, was reportedly against the idea. He thought Madonna was 'mad' to want to go through it all over again, The Sun added. He has always been unsure about adoption as his mother was adopted, and had negative experiences of it. But he finally warmed up to the idea, and decided that adopting a baby from India would be easier.

The Material Girl would soon fly out to choose a baby after she finishes promoting her new album Hard Candy.
