Early this morning, model Jhanvi Kapoor attempted suicide by slitting her wrists outside Amitabh Bachchan's home, Prateeksha, and was duely arrested.

But even as she claims that Abhishek had married her last year, some residents of Lucknow contend that the girl's name is actually Naina Razvi.

"She is my former daughter-in-law," says Kalbe Sadiq, senior vice president, All India Muslim Personal Law Board, and a top Shia cleric and maulana. "I saw her picture and immediately recalled Naina. She was married to my son, Momin Rizvi, in 1997."

Maulana Sadiq added that initially, his

family was opposed to his son's marriage but they relunctantly accepted it later. The marriage did not last beyond 2001.

"I am sure she is Naina," says an aunt. "The moment I saw her on television I could not believe that she tried to commit suicide outside Bachchan's bungalow."

What surprised Sadiq the most was her name. "I don't know when she became a Hindu and acquired this new name Jhanvi Kapoor. Our family lost touch with her four years ago after the divorce," he says.

Meanwhile, Jhanvi has denied that she was married to Momin Rizvi, as well as the claim that she is Muslim.

'My father was a Kapoor, and my mother remarried a Muslim. That is why her name is Shahina,' she told reporters in Mumbai this morning.
