Is Salman getting married?

October 20, 2005 19:56 IST

Recently one of our staffers was strolling along the famous Linking Road area of Bandra in Mumbai, a veritable shopper's paradise. And guess what he saw?

Salman's father Salim Khan was getting out of his car to enter one of the many jewelry shops there. Seeing him, the watchman and salesmen rushed out to give him a helping hand.

A dashing Khan Sr, who had a gold earring in one of his ears, went on to select some jewelry. We don't know what the occasion was, but we do know he was not shopping for himself. Considering that Salman will turn 40 this December, could it be that he is about to tie the knot?

Has it got anything to do with his girlfriend Katrina Kaif who has moved closer to the Khans' home and has bought a new flat nearby? We hope we are right. And if it turns out so, remember you got it first on rediff.com!

Amisha's love saga

Poor Amisha Patel! She is always in the news for all the wrong reasons.

The latest one is about singer Adnan Sami's alleged affair with her. The actress has so much to offer and we have seen her perform so well in innumerable films. But the media takes greater interest in her personal life or her falling out with her parents over money.

Now when things are going good for her, comes the news of the Adnan Sami thing. How can anyone spread such rumours?

Anyway, we know Adnan is no longer in the news, as his songs have hit a record low. Therefore, he (perhaps) is fanning the rumour for the sake of publicity. If you are in love with some actress it is fine, Adnan. But why do you need to utter half-truths? Come up with your lover's name or just keep mum. Why rake in poor Amisha's name? It seems Adnan is

desperate. After all, negative publicity too is good publicity, isn't it?

Govinda's lesson

Film personalities must never take on the media. This is the lesson actor turned member of Parliament Govinda must have learnt.

A few months ago, when India TV was carrying out its sting operations against actors, there was no need for the out-of work actor to support the 'victims', actors Aman Verma and Shakti Kapoor. But Govinda felt it was unethical, inappropriate and unjustified on the part of India TV, and voiced his opinion.

Salman Khan too stood by Verma and Kapoor but that's another story. For, the media has always bashed him up to kick up newspaper circulation and TRPs. Be it the killing of a black buck, his famous hit and run, and more recently boasting to Aishwarya Rai over phone that he has underworld connections, Salman has indeed kept the media busy.

Of course, the film industry stood by Salman irrespective of his alleged wrong-doings.

Now that it is Govinda's turn to face the music over the Dawood tape, let's hope he gets the same support from Bollywood too.

Is Ramu okay?

What is happening to Ram Gopal Varma? Too many of his friends have turned foes.

Is his arrogance to blame? Or is it that his co-workers expect too much of him? We don't know.

Manoj Bajpai eyed a hero's role in Satya and Ramu was keen he play Bhiku Mhatre, but Manoj wasn't happy. The list of Manoj Bajpais seems to be growing. Director of James, Rohit Jugraj, has fallen out with Varma and so has (we are told) actor Randeep Hooda, the protagonist in D. What is more shocking, even co-producer K Sera Sera has called it quits with Ramu. The duo did about a dozen films together.

Ramu, we have great respect for your capabilities, and hope things work out well for you in future.
