Italian filmmaker Sergio Scapanini said on Monday the Indo-Italian co-production treaty will help stimulate production of culturally vibrant films besides providing boost to development of Italian film infrastructure.

"A co-production treaty would encourage the Indian film makers to invest in Italian talent and its locations. In return, they would benefit from the Italian film expertise and the films could be eligible for Italian film tax incentives, which are designed to encourage investment in our domestic industry," said Scapanini, whose film Fire at My Heart will be screened for the 36th International Film Festival of India in

Goa.

"A treaty would fit into our wider aim of producing successful co-productions that deliver economic and cultural benefits for both parties," the filmmaker added. Together, both the countries could produce films that would be beneficial culturally and economically to both the audiences. "The treaty would enable us to continue to compete on the world stage, drawing on the wealth of talent that both countries possess, both in front of and behind the camera," he stated.
