Ashutosh Gowariker's Lagaan brought Aamir Khan international recognition and an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Film. With his next film The Rising, directed by Ketan Mehta (Mirch Masala, Maya), Khan hopes to notch up an exclusive screening at next year's Cannes International Film Festival.

The buzz is the period drama will feature the likes of Hollywood's Toby Stephens (Die Another Day)  and Damian Lewis. Reports also suggest the rights of the film have already been brought by Twentieth Century Fox.

Produced by Bobby Bedi (Bandit Queen, Saathiya), The Rising also stars Rani Mukerji and Aishwarya Rai.

The Rising sees Khan as freedom fighter Mangal Pandey and is scheduled to go on the floors in September.

Now it is Amrita Arora's turn to gain some mileage out of the ongoing trend. The star of  Subhash Ghai's Ek Aur Ek Gyarah appears in an item song in N R Pachisia's Zameen
