Xansa India, the subsidiary of British computer service major Xansa Plc, is ramping up its staff by adding another 1,000 personnel in the next 12 months.

This will take its total headcount in the country to 5,000, making the Indian subsidiary one of the largest in manpower terms.

"The additional recruitment is based on an expected increase in business in the present verticals we concentrate on. By February 2007, we would have 5,000 people in India and would have the distinction of employing more personnel in the country than abroad," Xansa India chairman Saurabh Srivastava told Business Standard in Mumbai on Thursday.

At present, Xansa's UK operations are the largest in terms of headcount, with the number of employees slightly on the higher side than in India.

The group has bluechip companies Barclays, British Telecom and NHS, among others, as its clientele, and it services over a global delivery model.
