Wipro Ltd, the country's third biggest software services firm, on Thursday said it was looking for acquisitions in Germany and Canada to take advantage of the growing markets there.

Wipro chairman Azim Premji said the company wanted to invest in Germany because it's an "important growth market". "We are also putting in investment in Canada as we are late starters there," Premji said at a press conference in Bangalore.

"We are looking at inorganic growth (through acquisitions) in Germany as well as in Canada", he said after the New York Stock Exchange-listed company announced its first quarter results.

The IT and FMCG company had earlier this month announced acquiring Singapore-based personal care products firm Unza Holdings for around Rs 1,000 crore (Rs 10 billion).

Premji said the company is making additional investments in the Middle-East, another important growth market. He said the company's focus in each of its businesses was to drive growth ahead of the industry growth rates and maintain margins at the top end of the respective segments.

"To achieve this we have been focusing on both organic and inorganic investments and our endeavour is to continue with this strategy," he said. The demand environment continues to be robust and the company sees good traction with existing customers, he said.

"We are investing in newer markets and service lines to drive growth and that combined with our focus on driving operational improvements will help us achieve our vision of global leadership", he added.
