Commerce Minister Kamal Nath will lead a high-powered business delegation to the United States for the 'Focus India Show' as part of initiatives to explore possibilities of joint ventures and attract greater investments into the country from the US.
The 'Focus India Show - Indo-US Business Partnership' would be held in Chicago from September 27-29. Foreign direct investments, joint ventures and tie-ups between Indian and US companies for third countries exports would be high on the agenda of the delegation, an official release said.
Organised by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the commerce ministry, the Chicago Exhibition and Conference is aimed at showcasing India's manufacturing prowess to mid-sized US companies, the release said.
Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu export promotion councils and the Indian tourism industry would participate in a big way in the Focus India Show, it added.
USA ranks first in terms of FDI approval in India and accounts for about 24.41 per cent of FDI approvals of the total investment approvals. In terms of actual FDI inflows, USA is the second largest country.
Top sectors attracting FDI approvals from USA are fuels, telecommunications, electrical equipments, services sector and food processing, the release said.
