India and the United States enjoy excellent relations and these can be further strengthened through extensive trade and business between the two countries, said Senator Satveer Chaudhary of Minnesota State.

Delivering a lecture on 'Indo-US relations: Role of Indian-American elected representatives' at Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, on Tuesday, he emphasised greater political and economic ties between India and the US.

He said he was particularly interested in establishing 'sister city' and 'sister state' relationship between Minnesota and Haryana and some other Indian city.

Describing his visit to India, particularly Haryana, as a tryst with destiny, Chaudhary foresaw a great future between both the countries and elimination of cold war mentality to strengthen bilateral eco-political ties.

He described his ethnic background as 'Indian Jat' and thanked the Haryana government for the warm welcome extended to him.

Speaking on the occasion, Haryana Finance Minister Sampat Singh said that in realm of Indo-US relations, cooperation in areas like technology, joint scientific research, environmental concerns, information and communication and trade and commerce was the need of the hour.
