Summers are no longer only a time for family vacations and travelling, but also a great time for shopping for your new LCD TV or even upgrading to a frost-free refrigerator.

In a bid to give a boost to the slowing durable sales, both manufacturers and large format retailers have lined up seasonal offers to keep the cash registers ringing.

During May-June, sales of not only seasonal consumer goods such as ACs and refrigerators go up, but also with more and more families going abroad for holidays, there is a surge in sales of cameras and camcorders and even laptops, according to industry observers.

While Reliance Digital is offering value for money combo offers on cellphones to laptops and televisions, Future Group-promoted e-Zone on the other hand is taking the opportunity to push sales of its private labels - Koryo and Sensei, apart from offering deals on other brands.

Tata's Croma has gone a step ahead to introduce a new catalogue to help consumers. "Due to the summer holiday season, there is a peak in sales of durables across categories. Keeping this in mind, we have come out with a detailed catalogue for consumers which offers the best deals to the consumers," says Ajit Joshi, CEO and managing director, Infinity Retail.

While summer marks the highest sales for seasonal products such as air-conditioners and refrigerators, manufacturers are also aggressively marketing other products this year.

"While TV may not be the biggest selling category during summers, but this year the IPL has pushed sales considerably," adds Joshi.
