After Tuesday's mayhem, traders on Wednesday had lots to cheer with Sensex closed 496 points at 14,287.
The Sensex opened with a huge postive gap and has maitained it through the day. Nifty too closed in the positive region.
In such volatile times, what strategy should you adopt? Which stocks to buy, sell and hold?

PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, I think you have asked way too many companies in one single question. I am afraid it won't be possible for me to give advice on that many stocks in one chat session as it won't be fair to other persons having posted queries.
Prabhu asked, Hi, I like to buy RPL, SAIL, NTPC, Sterlite. Shall i buy at CMP. I like to buy 100 shares each and can hold it for 1 year period. Please advice.
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, You could have bought a small part of your total invesment plan on a day like yesterday when the markets were down by 500 odd points rather than a day like today where the markets are up by 500 points. Also, buy in parts and not at one go and most importantly buy it for 1 year and over only. I would still wait for a downward correction before jumping in.
Sid asked, should i hold BHEL 21 shares @ 1800
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Yes I would surely hold on.
Nikhil asked, What are the future prospects for ICICI bank,DLF?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Despite the negative scenario for banks currently, I think ICICI bank will surely come out tops over a longer term. If you can look at the stock with a 1 to 2 year outlook then you can surely look at the stock. But buy on downswings in parts rather than at one go.
mintoo asked, plz tell me future or rpl. i have 3000 share or rpl @ 200

vaishali asked, which shares will be good in near future according to you, i m confused about what to buy?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, If you are convinced that you will see higher levels on the index in the coming months then you should look at the frontline index stocks like RIL, L&T etc. They are the ones that will bounce back first if the index rises.
anshul asked, hi i have SBI @1610 and SBI@ 1079 wat shuold i do shuold i wait or sell?

anup asked, Hi pranav, I have 85 shares of rajesh exports @ 85, the stock is moving very slowly. What do you think the prospects are for this. when should i sell. i have 50 shares of reliance power @ 156, what should be the target for this. I am looking at medium term profits for all my shares. Thanks anup
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Rajesh Exports you could look at booking profits and swithcing. R Power is surprisingly being added to the index stocks. It has yet to have a plant commissioned and it is being added to the index stocks. So the stock may get some boost by this virtue. Besides that the stock doesn't look to jump up till its plants are up by 2010. R Power is surely not a medium term buy.
brijinder asked, I am a fresher. I want to buy a few stocks. Kindly guide which would be the best to buy ?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Stick with the index stocks. Buy in small parts and only on dips in the index. Do not buy when the markets are up.

LGANAPATHY asked, Hi Pranav, I have 1000 Nos IFCI bought at Rs.91/-. Can hold or sell? Advice. Also advice on Tata Teleservices?
