This decision was taken at Executive Council meeting of National Association of Software and Service Companies held in Pune.
"I have had the pleasure of engaging with Nasscom in my diverse roles with the government. “I am honoured to be leading Nasscom and I look forward to work with Som, the Executive Council and other stakeholders," Chandrashekhar said.
He will have the responsibility to take forward Nasscom's ambitious target of $300 billion of revenue by 2020 from IT sector.
Chandrashekhar was the Chairman, Telecom Commission and Secretary, Department of Telecommunication till March 2013.
He is credited with establishing the Department of Information Technology in Andhra Pradesh and was Secretary of the Department from June 1997 to December 1999.
Mittal's term will end on January 3, 2014.
He has been President of Nasscom for the last 6 years.
