Tata Teleservices Maharashtra is in talks with the Airport Authority of India to offer Tata Indicom Wi-Fi services, a high frequency wirefree access to the Internet, at airports.
TTML is the first telecommunication service provider to offer the Wi-Fi services. YVL Pandit, chief operating officer of TTML, said in Mumbai on Thursday that Wi-Fi is a premium product and will be priced higher than the services of normal cybercafes.
TTML is targeting airports and hotels, which account for more than 90 per cent of the Wi-Fi market abroad.
The Wi-Fi service is supported by other Tata group companies, including Tata Teleservices, Tata Infotech, Tata Net and VSNL.
The group companies are expected to provide expertise to offer the entire gambit of products in telecommunications.
Tata Infotech will be the system integrator and will identify the vendor, see locations and survey the sites; Tata Teleservices will be the front end, Tata Net will provide VSAT connectivity, while international bandwidth will be provided by VSNL, Pandit added.
