The Tata group has set the ball rolling on the integration of the sales and marketing functions of its various telecommunication services companies under Tata Teleservices, the proposed flagship.

The move is aimed at enabling Tata Teleservices to offer integrated telecommunications services as a package under a common umbrella brand, Tata Indicom, instead of making consumers go to different companies for different services.

This would mean that various services, such as basic telephony and limited mobility from Tata Teleservices or Hughes Tele.com, Internet access from Tata Internet or Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd. and national and international long-distance from VSNL, public booths and village telephony, would all be provided under the Tata Indicom umbrella.
