Farmers who have offered their lands for windmills to Suzlon Energy have continued their agitation by cultivating their lands surrounding the windmills at Narsewadi, Gaurgaon, Chandeshwari, Waifale, Biranwadi in Tasgaon tehsil and Tisangi, Ghatnandre, Jakhapur, Wagholi and Shelkewadi in Kavathe Mahankal tehsil in Sangli district.

The farmers have also demanded that the windmills should be used on a rental basis and the middlemen who have carried out the deal in the land purchases should be prosecuted as they have allegedly deceived them.

Suzlon Energy Ltd has appealed to the local revenue officials at Sangli to fix the land value to decide the additional compensation for farmers, if any.

The Sangli collector who could not settle the dispute has reportedly submitted the details of the dispute to the state government for a final decision on the matter.

Suzlon Energy has submitted a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the Sangli Collector Rajendra Chavan with an appeal to fix the land value and pay the difference in the compensation if any.

However the matter is not settled at the collector's level and is therefore submitted to the state government according to sources close to the collectorate.

When contacted, Collector Chavan declined to respond.
