Three hundred and ten stocks, accounting for 20 per cent of the actively traded stocks on the bourses, soared to a new two-year high in 12 trading days of the current month.
On the top of this, as many as 71 stocks have touched an all time high on June 17, 2003.
The stock prices have been rising across all categories of stocks traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange.
Among the 310 stocks to have touched a two-year high in June, as many as 65 are from the BSE's A group.
Another 171 stocks are from the B1 group, 102 from the B group and 12 from the Z group. There are 24 stocks from the Sensex basket and 24 from S&P CNX Nifty basket.
The stocks, which reached their all-time include Aban Loyd Chiles, Bharat Electronics, Corporation Bank, J&K Bank, Lakshmi Auto Components, Maharashtra Seameless, Motherson Sumi, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Travancore and Swaraj Mazda.
Prominent gainers among group A which have jumped to a new 2-year high are Ashok Leyland, Bajaj Auto, BHEL, BSES, Corporation Bank, Grasim, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Hindalco, HPCL, IBP, IOCL, ITC, J & K Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra, ONGC, Ranbaxy Laboratories, SBI, Tata Power, Tata Tea and Tata Engineering, Pharmaceuticals firms lead the list with 26 pharma stocks at their new 2-year highs, followed by textiles and finance companies with 14 stocks each, engineering 13, banks and information technology 10 each.
Among pharmaceutical stocks, Aarti Drugs at Rs 37.50, Alembic at Rs 244, FDC at Rs 43.50, Ipca Lab at Rs 309.70, Lupin at Rs 248.80, Matrix Lab at Rs 499, Nicholas Piramal at Rs 312, Orchid Chem at Rs 147.30, Ranbaxy Lab at Rs 748.15 and Sun Pharma at Rs 359 hit their new 2-year high in June.
Among bank stocks, the share price of the State Bank of India touched a 2-year high of Rs 368.30, Corporation Bank at Rs 184, J & K Bank at Rs 235.50, HDFC Bank at Rs 266.25, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur at Rs 896.75, State Bank of Mysore at Rs 845.15 and Stata Bank of Travancore at Rs 728.90.
