Sony TV eyes Ten Sports pie

August 29, 2006 14:38 IST

Sources suggest that Sony TV may have finalised a deal to pick up 50 per cent in Dubai based sports channel, Ten Sports, reports CNBC-TV18.

Sources say that the deal is believed to be worth between $55-60 million. Ten Sports is said to have been in talks with not just Sony but Zee as well but valuation differences kept a deal from happening.

Now sources say that top executives of Sony may fly to Dubai in the next few days to sign the deal. If the deal is done, Sony may also get the right to appoint a chief financial officer at Ten Sports.

However, Sony India CEO, Kunal Dasgupta denied any such deal. Chris McDonald, CEO of Ten Sports, said that talks were on with various parties and no deal was close to finalisation as yet.
