Sensex ends up 69 points at 14,356

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 72 points at 14,359, but soon slipped into the negative zone owing to nervousness ahead of derivatives expiry of the July series.

The index exhibited lacklustre movement for most part of the trading day. After touching a low of 14,162, the index rebounded into the positive zone and touched a high of 14,370 - up 208 points from the day's low. The Sensex finally ended with a gain of 69 points at 14,356.

The market breadth was almost neutral - out of 2,697 stocks traded, 1,296 advanced and 1,326 declined today.

The NSE Nifty moved up 19 points to settle at 4,333.

INDEX MOVERS...

Tata Power and Tata Steel surged 4% each to Rs 1,160 and Rs 655, respectively.

DLF rallied 3.8% to Rs 509. SBI and Reliance gained 2% each at Rs 1,415 and Rs 2,206, respectively.

Sterlite advanced 1.5% to Rs 632. Mahindra & Mahindra and Ranbaxy moved up 1.3% each to Rs 521 and Rs 499, respectively.

...AND THE SHAKERS

Tata Motors slipped over 3% to Rs 403. Grasim shed 2.8% at Rs 1,800.

Maruti dropped 2.3% to Rs 575. Wipro and Bharti Airtel slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 416 and Rs 799, respectively.

ACC and Infosys were down over 1% each at Rs 584 and Rs 1,583, respectively.

VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERS

Reliance Natural Resources topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 370.30 crore followed by Reliance Capital (Rs 344.50 crore), Reliance (Rs 182.80 crore), Tata Steel (Rs 163 crore) and SEL Manufacturing (Rs 151.20 crore).

Reliance Natural Resources also led the volume chart with trades of around 3.73 crore shares followed by Birla Cotsyn (1.80 crore), Ispat Industries (1.31 crore), Kashyap Technologies (88.35 lakh) and Chambal Fertilisers (83.20 lakh).
