Scotmas, a Scotland-based company, which develops and manufactures a range of water treatment, hygiene and environmental care solutions, has announced its foray into India.

The company has tied up with Bangalore-based Triumph Services Network to market its products in India.

Triumph, a three-year-old company, deals with infestation management. Its clients include Infosys, IBM and the Taj Group of Hotels.

With the WHO stating that chlorine di-oxide must be used as a disinfectant in water instead of chlorine to kill bacteria, Triumph officials feel that opportunity in India is enormous.

Currently, India uses chlorine for the purpose and the water supply boards of various states are potential customers of Triumph.

Scotmas India commenced product trials in collaboration with Triumph about three years ago. Trials were successfully carried out at the Taj President Hotel in Mumbai for removal of bacteria from occupied rooms and declare them "bacteria-free".

"In India, the concept is new. But the booming tourist arrivals will mean that this kind of requests will be a common feature. We hope that the hospitality sector will not only give us substantial revenues but also send back healthy tourists from India," K N Shive Shankar, CEO, Triumph Services Network, said.

The product range from Scotmas include chlorine di-oxide generators, microbial waste digestion products, general disinfectants chemical dosing systems, among others.

Today's announcement will mean that Scotmas will supply its products to Triumph, whereas the latter will provide better services to its customers.

Triumph plans to register revenues of nearly Rs 60 crore (Rs 600 million) in the next fiscal. By then, it will also employ nearly 500 people with over 100 engineers.
