Expanding its international network in south Asia, private airline Air Sahara of India has launched daily commercial flights between Delhi and Kathmandu.

This is the airline's second international destination after Colombo, executive vice president of Sahara Airlines Ltd, Alok Sharma said.

Air Sahara's 737 Boeing landed for the first time at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Thursday.

Air Sahara was scheduled to launch its Delhi-Kathmandu-Delhi service on September 1 but was postponed due to clashes, which broke out in Kathmandu that day in the aftermath of the killing of 12 Nepalese labourers in Iraq.

Air Sahara is providing daily air service between Kathmandu and Delhi, said Joy Dewan, managing director of Zenith Travels, general sales agent of Air Sahara to Nepal.

The flights would help promote Nepal's tourism in the Indian market, he added.

Air Sahara will soon connect Kathmandu with Mumbai and Kolkata.
