Rolls-Royce chairman quits due to illness

June 22, 2004 17:55 IST

Aerospace giant Rolls-Royce announced the resignation of its chairman, Euan Baird, 66, due to a long convalescence after he suffered a stroke in December.

John Moore, also 66, who has been serving as acting chairman in Baird's absence, will remain at the helm until a permanent successor is appointed.

Baird had been in his position for little more than a year, having replaced Ralph Robins as chairman of the group in February 2003.
