The earnings from goods during fiscal 2014-15 were Rs 1,07,074.79 crore (Rs 1,070.74 billion) compared to Rs 94,955.89 crore (Rs 949.55 billion) in the corresponding period last year, showing an increase of 12.76 per cent, according to Railway Ministry data.ore
The earnings from passengers during 2014-15 were Rs 42,866.33 crore (Rs 428.66 billion) compared to Rs 37,478.34 crore (Rs 374.78 billion) during the same period last year, an increase of 14.38 per cent.
The total earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 4035.56 crore (Rs 40.35 billion) during fiscal 2014-15 compared to Rs 3818.03 crore (Rs 38.18 billion) during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.70 per cent.
The total numbers of passengers booked during the financial year 2014-15 were 8227.99 million compared to 8425.09 million during the same period last year, showing a decrease of 2.34 per cent.
In the suburban sector, total 4503.97 million passengers were booked during the fiscal 2014-15 as compared to 4549.62 million in the same period last fiscal, a decline of one per cent.
However, in the suburban sector decline is more as 3724.02 million passengers were booked during the 2014-15 as against the 3875.47 million in the corresponding period last year, registering a decrease of 3.91 per cent.
