Ford is gearing up to launch the new Figo this year.
The next-generation Ford Figo is due to be launched this year, however the rumours around are that the Figo will be powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine that will be detuned for the hatchback.
We aren’t sure whether the 1.0-litre EcoBoost will be used by Ford from what we know, Ford hasn’t been testing the Figo with this turbo petrol engine.
However, we do have a confirmation that Ford has been testing the Figo hatchback with the 1.2-litre petrol engine. This is the same mill that powers the current generation of Figo and will be also powering the new one.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces about 69bhp of power and is certainly a good engine option to have, if Ford needs to have a lower price tag for the new one.
With the 1.0-litre Ecoboost even though the engine is a lot advanced, the pricing does shoot up and does affects the buying decision.
In the hatchback segment, the product has to be value for money and this will be the case with the Figo sedan too.
Ford is gearing up to launch the Figo by the start of 2015 fiscal year, mostly this will be in the company’s new Sanand plant that will inaugurate around the same time.
The Ford Figo will however now be powered with the new 1.5-litre diesel engine, and Ford has been testing the Figo with this new engine.
With the 1.5-litre diesel, Ford will unify its existing diesel engine options to just the 1.5-litre. We don’t have any clarity on the future of Ford Classic.
