Honda with a slew of new models, facelifts and some new engine line-up, has geared up to play safe in the year 2015.
The burning rivalry in the Indian automobile industry is evident with the fact that right from the home-grown car manufacturers to the German luxuries and British supercar makers, all have been eyeing the country in a bid to prosper.
Apart from the fact that India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, its automobile industry’s inherent growth potential is magnetizing the automakers to launch new vehicles time and again.
On similar lines, Honda Cars India, after witnessing a successful 2014, is searching for new possibilities in the country.
In context to this, the carmaker with a slew of new models, facelifts and some new engine line-up, has geared up to play safe in the year 2015.
Here is the brief synopsis about the four upcoming cars in the Indian market from Honda.
Next-gen Honda Jazz: Honda has learned a lot from its past experiences and subsequently improved to solidify its position in the country.
After the first-gen Jazz failed to make up the required sales numbers, Honda in a meticulous move, stopped its production to pave the path for the next-gen model.
Moreover, the carmaker is also working on the ‘alter-ego’ philosophy which is currently in trend in the industry.
Yes, the upcoming Jazz will be a baby Honda City and of course, will be loaded with the fuel efficient 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel mill which is able to produce 99bhp.
Other reports also suggests that it would get CVT automatic gearbox alongside steering mounted paddle shifters.
As per the inside-out upgrades, the already premium Jazz will be embellished with new external looks and eye-catching interiors to audaciously stand against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai Elite i20 and similar cars in the segment.
Honda Vezel: Compact SUVs are currently the walk and talk of the town. And when Honda has perceived the intentions of Hyundai (ix25) and Maruti (SX4 Cross) entering the segment, then the induction of a newcomer becomes indispensable.
Honda though lately, is all prepared to enter the sub-4 meter segment with its subcompact crossover Vezel in the market.
And it seems that people of India are getting use to the engine line-up; the 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel and 1.2 liter i-VTEC engines are highly anticipated to secure its position under the bonnet.
Already on sale in the Japanese market, Honda Vezel will also be retailed to American and Australian markets in mid-2015.
It is expected that Indian launch will follow soon or maybe early, as our country is a preferred destinations of foreign players.
The all new Honda Accord: Honda will also update its Accord sedan for the year 2015 and this time, it is reportedly bringing the plug-in hybrid model.
The petrol and diesel variants are expected to feature the 1.5 liter and 2.2 liter i-DTEC engines.
But the prime objective of the automaker is to launch a plug-in hybrid model and to counter the likes of Toyota Camry hybrid, which is gradually making pace in the country.
The facelifted Accord is already running on the American roads and is expected to enter the Indian shores in late 2015 or by early next year.
Honda CR-V- There are few bulky premium SUVs in the country, Honda CR-V is one of those and company doesn't want to lose its space in the segment.
With respect to this, the carmaker will be updating its CR-V to counter the likes of Ford Endeavour, which was recently updated.
The new model was showcased at the Paris Motor Show 2014 and subsequently went on sale.
The new version will have noticeable cosmetic changes while the major modification will come under the hood where it is expected to get the 2.2 liter i-DTEC engine which is already powering the car launched in UK market.
However, the petrol trim might retain the same 2.0 liter engine that generates 148bhp and peak torque of 350Nm.
Besides this, looking at the growing popularity of turbocharged mills, Honda is preparing to introduce a new series of Turbo VTEC petrol engines in the country.
We have crossed our fingers and waiting for all these releases in 2015.
