For those who want to buy the 'world's best car'

November 09, 2015

The Mercedes S63 AMG packs some serious performance while also looking absolutely stunning in coupe form, writes Faizal Khan of MotorBeam.com.

The Mercedes S-Class is a very popular luxury sedan and the German automaker has added more interesting products to the S-Class portfolio, one of them being the S63 AMG.

As the name suggests, the vehicle is meant for outright performance and it is also a very powerful car at that.

This is one of the few cars that offers a complete blend of luxury and performance and the S63 AMG really excels in both the departments.

The exteriors of the S63 AMG are extremely sporty and they ooze of a lot of style.

The front fascia has a lot of striking elements like the headlamps and the bumpers have a sporty appeal to them, unlike the regular S-Class which is more on the understated side.

The AMG body kit looks very eye-catchy and this unique shade of green is also quite a looker.

The headlights come with Swarovski crystals which look very beautiful and there are 47 of them in each unit of the headlamp!

It is the side profile where you notice that fastback silhouette of the AMG. The 10-spoke 19-inch wheels boast of a very gorgeous design too.

Mercedes has omitted a B-Pillar and the windows and doors of the S63 use a frameless design.

The rear fascia is stunning to say the least and the car looks the best from the rear. There is a carbon finish diffuser in the rear bumper and there is also a chrome strip running across the length between the tail lamps.

The same sporty theme has been carried over to the interiors too. The dashboard is similar to the S-Class so you can see that there are two screens over here too.

The steering wheel on the S63 is an AMG unit and for the upholstery you get to choose from four options in the Designo leather pack - black, crystal grey, brown and porcelain.

The S63 AMG is also loaded with a lot of gizmos like a Burmester Sound System, 360-degree parking cameras, night vision camera, navigation and also Magic Sky Control where you can change the tint function of the sunroof.

The 2015 Mercedes S63 AMG is powered by a 5.5-litre twin-turbo AMG petrol engine belting out 585 horses and 900 Nm of twist.

The vehicle leaps from 0-100 km/hr in just 4.2 seconds. Power is sent to the rear wheels but Mercedes also offers an all-wheel-driver version of the vehicle which is reserved for left-hand drive markets only.

The engine has a nice sound but since the S63 is so nicely insulated, you don't get to hear much of that exhaust inside the cabin.

Performance is extremely good with the engine having a lot of punch. The mid-range and the top-end packs in quite a thrust and the car redlines under 6500 RPM.

The S63 AMG gets three drive modes to choose from - Comfort, Manual and Sports.

The engine is complemented by a 7-speed transmission which is pretty quick in its working but still it isn't one of the fastest gearboxes around.

The Mercedes S63 AMG gives out a fuel efficiency of approximately 4 km/litre.

The S63 AMG is a grand tourer and it weighs more than 2000 kgs. The vehicle comes with Magic Body Control which adjusts the hydraulic suspension and the Curve Tilting Technology examines tilt and corrects it by making the vehicle lean like a motorcycle.

On the whole, the S63 AMG isn't a sharp handler and it is more oriented towards those who want all the power but also want to tour around in comfort and luxury.

The Mercedes S63 AMG is loaded to the gills with safety features and the German company also has splendid after-sales service.

The S63 AMG offers a lot and it is going to be preferred by those people who want to buy the 'Best Car in the World' but don't want a chauffeur to ferry them around.

This Mercedes has drop-dead gorgeous looks, a long equipment list, lots of power and tons of ooze and snob value.
