Telecom service provider Reliance Communications is in the process of launching commodity quotes on mobile phones, a service that will enable users to get information from commodity exchanges and mandis in the country. The company has also entered into a tie-up with a TV18 group firm, commoditiescontrol.com, for the service.

The Anil Ambani group company has completed the trial runs and the service is expected to be launched on August 15. This will enable Reliance subscribers in both metros and rural areas check news, information and prices of the commodities. The service would be charged at Rs 3 per entry.

With the introduction of futures trading, the size of the commodities market is poised to grow manifold, with industry experts expecting it to increase four-fold in the next three years.
