The business channel space in the India television arena is making waves with new entrants. It is now NDTV's turn to make its mark in this space with a new business channel.

NDTV Profit, the business channel from NDTV, will be launched on January 17, according to an exchange4media report.

This channel would be the third offering from NDTV after the English and Hindi news channels, NDTV 24x7 and NDTV India.

"It will be a business channel with a difference," NDTV Media's chief executive officer Raj Nayak was quoted by exchange4media as saying.

With the new channels, NDTV plans to disband business programmes, which are currently aired on NDTV 24x7.

"Our programmes like 'The 2.30 Factor' and 'Business 24x7' have earned the respect of stockbrokers and executives. We know business and we're going to cover it in a way that's new for India," said Nayak, reported exchange4media.

The new channel will have to vie with established players like CNBC TV 18 and Zee business.

NDTV's Vikram Chandra will be the editorial head of the channel. The report said that the channel's edge over others will be 'finest reporters and anchors and our programming will break new ground. We'll have our fleet of OB vans placed across the country, to bring the latest news live to our audience.'

The channel also plans to move around the globe to bring the latest international news, said the report.
