NDTV India is best news channel

NDTV bagged the Best News Channel of the Year award at the fourth Indian Tele awards in Mumbai on Tuesday night. The channel got the award just two years after it was launched.

In the entertainment category, HBO was named as the best English movie channel, while Zee Cinema got the best Hindi movie channel of the year award. MTV was adjudged the best music channel.

It was a great day for NDTV which got as many as six major awards in various categories. The Big Fight on NDTV 24x7 was declared the Best Talk Show, while the special election programme Chai Stop on NDTV bagged the award for the Best Current Affairs Programme of the Year.

Gustakhi Maaf on NDTV India won the Best Comic Show award. NDTV's Pooja Arya won the Best Cameraperson award and Jatin Gupta was voted the best editor.

DD Mumbai was conferred the best Doordarshan Kendra award.

More than 60 awards in over five categories were given away under the trade, technical and programming sections.

Tony and Deeya Singh, along with Rohit Khanna, bagged the award for the best director in the soap and drama category.

B P Singh of CID bagged the award for the best director of a thriller.

Best music director award was given away to Lalit Sen for Kasauti Zindagi Ki.
