The Prannoy Roy-promoted New Delhi Television has roped in A R Rahman to compose the signature tune for its Hindi channel, NDTV India. The news and other programmes on NDTV's Hindi channel will begin with this signature theme.

NDTV earlier also signed on David Lowe, who's signature tunes for the BBC and British Airways are well known, to compose the music for NDTV's English channel 24X7.

Lowe started his composition for NDTV in England but spent a month at NDTV's offices in New Delhi mixing the final elements.

Sources at NDTV confirmed that both Rahman and David Lowe composed the music for the channels.

NDTV, meanwhile, will have a fleet of helicopters to ferry its reporters and bring news to the people first.

In a communication to subscribers to NDTV.com, company president Prannoy Roy said: "I know this is common for news channels all over the world, but for the first time in India we will have a fleet of helicopters exclusive to NDTV -- to ensure we get you the news first, fastest and with the right perspective."
