Global technology company NCR Corporation on Tuesday unveiled its next-generation multi-function automatic teller machine (ATM) which would help financial institutions reduce their operating costs.

The machine, NCR SelfServ 32, is designed to accept cheques without any envelope and is scalable to offer bulk cheque deposits and is in sync with the Reserve Bank of India's current initiative of getting banks' technology ready to offer cheque truncation.

"The introduction of NCR SelfServ ATM reflects a key NCR strategy to link the consumer experience across the ATM, the internet and mobility. Consumers want self-service banking to be convenient, easy to use, secure and always available when and where they want," Pradeep Sen, managing director, NCR (India), said.

Besides intelligent cash deposit and recycling, NCR SelfServ 32 allows an array of revenue generation opportunities for banks such as bills payments, funds transfer and remittance, mobile phone top-up and couponing.

"NCR SelfServ 32 are equipped with self-healing technology to automatically recover from software failures and downtime without intervention, cutting down recovery-time previously ranging from 3-4-hours to 10-15 minutes," Sen said.

The company also introduced multi-channel self-service banking solutions including NCR APTRA eMarketing and APTRA connections software that allows banks to better serve their customers across point of service, mobile and online channels.
