N R Narayana Murthy is back as the executive chairman of Infosys and this is being seen as a welcome move by many. Several persons including former Infosys board member, Mohandas Pai believe that this move will help the company grow and put it back on the path of success.
Infosys required a strong leader and it could not have come at a better time as the company had been performing poorly. Murthy, said Pai, should focus on mentoring the next generation and this would help the company further. Pai further added that mentoring a new generation would put the future leadership in place.
Infosys has always done well under a strong and charismatic leader. Murthy has proven to be both and being a business icon his return only means good to the company.
For the past two years Infosys did not have a proper management structure in place. When Murthy was around Infosys could understand the market, but later we found some issues in communication. However, all that would be solved with his return.
Infosys needed a big change. Murthy could play the role of mentor while the company can pump in fresh blood. All these changes will bring about major reforms and the investors too will be pleased.
On the inclusion of Rohan Murthy as executive assistant to his father, Pai says this is a coincidence. I would however like to add that Infosys is not family dominated.
