Microsoft Corporation India has launched a toll-free virus support helpline for customers across India.

The initiative, which is part of Microsoft's 'Protect Your PC' campaign, hopes to use the helpline to provide desktop users with assistance to recover from a virus infection; information on how to protect the desktop machine from viruses; and assistance related to security patches released by Microsoft.

The toll-free line can be reached from six cities: Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad.

Customers can call 1-901-33-33-34 from Monday to Saturday - 9.00 am to 5.30 pm. They can also email their queries to invirsup@microsoft.com.

Users in others cities will be able to access the helpline through additional numbers listed on the Microsoft Web site. http://www.microsoft.com/india/security/support.aspx

"Security and timely patch management has emerged as an important issue in the recent past and Microsoft is committed to easing this problem for its customers. This support will serve as a one-stop shop for all virus related problems and we believe it will go a long way in facilitating our end-users' needs," says Jasminder Gulati, Manager Enterprise Marketing, Microsoft India.
