Max Healthcare in expansion mode

Max Healthcare on Monday announced investing around Rs 425 crore (Rs 4.25 billion) during 2004-05 for setting up six hospitals in the National Capital Region.

"We will invest Rs 425 crore for the construction of six hospitals in the NCR which is our focus area," chairman of Max Healthcare Analjit Singh said.

"Five of the six hospitals would be functional this year and the one at Gurgaon would be ready around this time next year," he said.

The company also plans to open around 18 primary healthcare clinics in the region during the period, he said after signing an agreement with Singapore General Hospital for medical collaboration and training services.

The agreement would provide for furthering standard of medical education, research and medical practice.

This would facilitate exchange of knowledge and skills in medicine and healthcare, CEO, SGH, Tan Ser Kiat said.

"This venture would help conduct research to tackle diseases specific to the region. There would be exchange programmes for fellowship and training of medical personnel," Kiat said.
