Sending out positive vibes to investor circle, West Bengal government has effected a top-level reshuffle in the industry department with a new secretary as well as a new managing director of the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation.

C M Bachhawat, who has served as finance secretary in the Trinamool government earlier, will take over as the industry secretary from Alapan Bandopadhyay. Bachhawat will also be given additional responsibility as  executive director of WBIDC.

On the other hand, WBIDC managing director Nandini Chakravorty has also been replaced with West Bengal Power Development Corporation managing director Krishna Gupta. He, had earlier served in the Union ministry of commerce and industries.

The reshuffle came as a surprise to many as both Chakravorty and Bandopadhyay were known to be very close to chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

However, the replacements, especially that of Chakravorty with Gupta, came as a welcome move for industrialists.
