Targeting techies in a lean season, Tourism Malaysia jointly with Singapore Airlines, on Wednesday announced holiday packages to Malaysia, aimed at showcasing destinations beyond the capital Kuala Lumpur, from Bangalore.

The package for three nights/four days at Rs 25,999 offers an option to any one of the four Malaysian destinations --Langkawi, Penang, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. The five nights/six days package at Rs 31,599 offers destinations of Penang or Langkawi in conjunction with Kuala Lumpur.

The 'short-break' packages, in force till September, are inclusive of return airfare with taxes on Singapore Airlines, airport transfers, accommodation in star category hotel with breakfast, and half-day city sightseeing, Manoharan, director of Tourism Malaysia said.

"This current package is in-sync with Tourism Malaysia's strategic approach to offer price-wise competitive packages in tactical alliance with Singapore Airlines to attract mid-segment travellers looking for value deals," he said.

Mega sale carnival is on in Malaysia, offering discounts on varied products, ranging from 50 per cent to 70 per cent.

"Through this promotion we anticipate an increase of approximately 15-20 per cent passenger traffic during the lean period of July to September," he said.

In 2007, revenues to Malaysia from Indian arrivals by way of shopping and hotel stay, among others, were $1.13 billion. Average stay of Indian tourists in Malaysia is 6.4 days, and Indian tourists spent $150 on an average.
