LG Electronics India is targeting to sell 200,000 personal computers in 2005 from 74,000 last year with the turnover of the IT division expected to increase during the year to Rs 1100 crore (Rs 11 billion).
The company has also stepped up its R&D investment in converged digital products to Rs 15 crore (Rs 150 million) during the year from Rs 6 crore (Rs 60 million) last year, K R Kim, president, South West Asia, LGE and MD LGEIL said in New Delhi.
"We are aiming to sell 200,000 units of PCs in 2005, up from 74,000 last year. Our turnover from IT division is also likely to increase to Rs 1100 crore in the year from Rs 650 crore (Rs 6.5 billion)," he said, adding segment-wise the sales targets are one million monitors, two million optical storage devices and 20,000 Notebook computers.
LG launched Notebook computers at the end of last year.
The Korean major on Thursday launched 'My Homnet' digital home theatre solutions in the price range of Rs 100,000-350,000.
Targeting a marketshare of 10 per cent in the home entertainment solutions market, the multitasking solution from LG has one hub and four applications -- plasma display panel,
LCD TV, Flat TV and Home Theatre -- which will offer converged solutions of video and data by working as a TV and a PC.
The company is planning to upgrade it to six applications later, he said.
The company aims to sell 4000 units of My Homnet in 2005, capturing 10 per cent of the market of digital home theatre solutions, he added.
