Amidst threat of intense competition in the car industry, C K Birla Group company Hindustan Motors Limited is planning to launch new models of its hi-end Lancer cars.

"The company is in discussions with Mitsubishi Motors for possible introduction of new models," Hind Motor Chairman C K Birla said in the company's latest annual report.

These apart, the company, as a part of its business strategy, is focussing on supply of engines and transmissions to other manufacturers from its plant at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh.

"Supplies are already made to Ford India Limited, Mahindra & Mahindra and recently supplies of engines and transmissions have also commenced to General Motors India Limited," the report said.

The division was also looking for suitable export opportunities for components.

Meanwhile, after introducing two new variants of its flagship brand Ambassador -- Grand and Avigo, which had revived the interest of individual user segment, Hind Motor was gearing up to make the petrol and diesel engines of Ambassador and Multi Utility Vehicles comply with Bharat Stage three emission norms, much before the deadline.
