Online recruitment solutions provider Jobsahead.com has tied-up with the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, to streamline the recruitment process of the engineering college. The company has created an exclusive website, www.iitd.ernet.in, for this.

The company is also in talks with several graduate and post-graduate professional institutes for similar tie-ups.

JobsAhead.com will not charge IIT Delhi, for its services as most of the staff of the company are alumni of the institute.

"We expect this initiative to facilitate the recruitment process and help the institute attract more recruiters. The website provides an excellent platform for students to showcase their skills and highlights the proficiency of the faculty," Rajiv Puri, chief executive officer of JobsAhead, said.

"Companies based far way, which are not looking at high volume recruitment and are not very confident of students accepting their offers, will be able to shortlist candidates from a distance without incurring the expense of visiting the campus. Location will no longer be a constraint for such firms," he said.

The website, hosted on the institute's server, will be maintained by JobsAhead. The company is working with the institute on a programme to popularise this site among recruiters. Typically, about 150 companies visit the campus annually.

JobsAhead had also tied-up with the Directorate-General, Resettlement, of the Indian Armed Forces in March this year, to place ex-servicemen in the private sector.

"There might be some small and mid-sized companies that do not have a big brand attached to them, but are progressive and looking for students with specialisation. We offer 36 courses, which include specialisation in fields like optics, energy and telecommunications among others.

"These companies will be able to call students at places convenient to them without incurring the expense of on-campus recruitment," Kushal Sen, who is in charge of training and placement at IIT Delhi, said.

JobsAhead was founded in 1999. It has been funded by venture capital fund ChrysCapital and the Dalmia group.

The company, which claims to have over 2.4 million registered users and 6,000 corporate clients, registers 5,00,000 transactions every day. The JobsAhead network comprises the JobsAhead.com website and other print and web supplements.
