Jet Airways has been selected as the second best airline in the world, in the foreign-only routes category, by Conde Nast Traveler in its 2008 Readers Choice Awards survey.
Jet received a score of 53.1 to secure the second position. Silk Air with a score of 54.1 was adjudged the best airline in this category. Air Iceland (51.3), SriLankan Airlines (47.2), and Dragon Air (45.5) were adjudged to be the third, fourth and fifth best carriers in the category.
Jet Airways, India's leading international airline, launched North American service last summer from Mumbai/Delhi to New York's JFK and Newark airports -- adding Toronto Pearson International and San Francisco International airports within the past year.
Jet Airways Naresh Goyal, reacting to the award, said: "When we started our transatlantic service, one of my goals was to be recognized as one of the world's top airlines in five years. Within 18 months, readers of Conde Nast Traveler have reached that conclusion. It is extremely gratifying that our dedication to quality and excellence has been recognized so quickly in the North American market."
