PeopleSoft, the second largest provider of enterprise applications software, said on Thursday that it would increase employee strength to around 1,000 from the current 360.
The company said it had invested around $30 million towards research and development efforts for Total Ownership Experience Initiative.
"We have two centres in India -- a development centre and a service centre," country manager of PeopleSoft India Pvt Ltd, Thiru Vengadam, told reporters in Chennai.
PeopleSoft offers three product families PeopleSoft Enterprise, PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne and PeopleSoft World. The company operates in 37 industries with a client base of 12,000 in 150 countries.
"We maintain leadership in 24 industries," director - product and industry marketing (Japan & Asia Pacific), PeopleSoft, Ray Kloss said.
While outlining the plans for India, Vengadam said the company would focus on financial services, telecom, IT and ITES and higher educations for Enterprise product family, and pharma, chemicals and auto components in the Enterprise One family.
Regarding the Indian operations, he said the company has over 130 customers and that the manufacturing segment contributes a significant portion to the total revenue.
The company has recently launched a special package, World Express, targetted at small and medium business segment. A CMS group company, Systime, is in the process of distributing this product in India.
