Global semi-conductors company STMicroelectronics on Thursday announced its plan to invest $100 mn in the next five years in India for research on chip designing, Pasquale Pistorio, its president & CEO told newspersons after inaugurating the company's third design and development facility in Noida.
The Noida facility has come up with an investment of $15 million and will be able to house 550 additional skilled design and embedded software engineers.
It is the company's single largest design facility outside Europe.
The company is also setting up a design centre at Bangalore housing 100 designers.
STMicroelectronics currently employs 1400 people.
