16-year-old bags Infosys award

The invention of an innovative slope-measuring instrument has won 16-year-old T Sriramkumar the Infosys-Education World Young Achievers Award 2005-06 in the junior category.

Sriramkumar has filed a patent for inventing it.

Sandesh V Kadur, who was nominated for Green Oscar and the BBC Newcomer of the Year 2002, bagged the honour in the senior section.

Kadur had won the merit award for cinematography in 2002 at the International Wildlife Film Festival.

The award has been instituted to recognise and reward talented young individuals in areas of arts, science, music, sport, academics, technology and social work, Infosys said adding the awards were announced on Wednesday.

According to an Infosys statement, the award received around 500 entries from all over India and some applications came from Indian schools abroad as well.
