Indian software giant Infosys Technologies Ltd and IT major Cognizant Technology Solutions have been named the 8th and 9th fastest growing companies, respectively, in the United States by Business 2.0.
Business 2.0 recently released the list of top 100 fastest-growing technology companies in the US for 2005. With this, the growing influence of Infosys and Cognizant in the global outsourcing arena has been further fortified.
Infosys was also the only Indian company to make it to the Wired magazine's 'The Wired 40' list recently.
In 2004, a Financial Times-PwC annual survey of the world's most respected companies saw Infosys being ranked at number 62nd.
Both Accenture and IBM have scaled up their Indian operations and this was, to some extent, hurting Indian IT majors. But Infosys, has managed to keep the Accenture and IBM challenge at bay by opening its own consultancy centres in the US.
